Banks Ram-Air differential cover extends lubrication life, retains fuel economy, and rejects heat faster than any other cover on the market.

Purpose Built

The Banks Engineering team’s goal was to perfect fluid flow and reject BTUs from the fluid as fast as the ring and pinion puts them in. If the fluid flow is impeded in any way, it results in resistance and aeration which reduce fuel economy and creates heat, thereby degrading the fluid and decreasing the lifespan of the gearset.

Outperform The Competition, For Less

Thanks to its superior fluid and aerodynamics, the Ram-Air Cover out-performs stock and flat-back high-capacity covers and does so with less lubricant. Increased distance between service intervals and less lubricant means you'll save money while extending gear life.

Flat-Back Fail

Extra capacity "Flat-Back" covers have worse fluid dynamics than stock. Effectively splattering oil at a wall reducing lubrication on key components and increasing wear-tear and heat.

Banks Does It Right

With the proper distance between the ring gear and raceway, oil is lifted up and around the differential. The internal fluid guides directs the flow exactly to where it's needed.

The competition has no way of directing airflow, their covers leave a deadzone so temperatures rise faster and fall slower, meaning your oil works harder and components wear faster, costing you fuel economy

The Banks Engineering Team uncovered two underlying problems with aftermarket covers; poor air flow and flawed fluid dynamics. The Banks Ram-Air differential cover solves both issues.

Tests were performed on a stretch of California’s infamous Grapevine (Interstate 5) on the same truck, with the same driver and the same load, at the same time of day and same temperature

After testing covers with flat-backs and those with larger fluid capacities, it was apparent that these covers do not cool as well as advertised, suffer from poor fluid dynamics, and they all make no use of airflow to cool actively.

Banks Design for the new Ram Air Differential Cover

Purpose Built

When the team at Banks sat down at the drawing board, the goal was to perfect fluid flow and reject BTU's from the fluid as fast as the ring and pinion put them in. When you slow down the fluid in any way, it results in resistance and aeration which KILL your fuel economy. Not only does it hurt your fuel economy, it begins to build heat, this heat will slowly but consistently degrade the fluid and decrease the lifespan of the gearset. 

The Banks Power design is to allow the fluid to flow through your gears with little to no resistance, keeping your oil cool and having consistent coverage on your gears without drowning the bearings.

Currently, most aftermarket covers floating around the market today have fins for cooling. However, those fins really don't do anything, yes, they may dissipate heat to some extent, but there really is no airflow hitting the back of your cover. Also, most of the flat back covers impede the flow, imagine firing a hose at a brick wall, what happens to the fluid?

Proper Differential Air Flow

The Banks Power Ram-Air system increases the amount of airflow that gets pushed passed your differential by scooping air as you move and directing it through the fins on your cover.

 

Poor Differential Air Flow

Other covers may use fins to cool the differential but they don't have a method of pulling the airflow into those fins on the differential.
